Yesterday, the fashion world lost Giorgio Armani, and I find myself reflecting on his extraordinary legacy. His jackets always fascinated me — so light, so pliable, with inner workings that seemed almost impossible to unravel for a home sewist. I spent years sleuthing in Armani boutiques in New York and Los Angeles, examining privately owned pieces, and experimenting in my own studio to figure out how they were made.

That research became a rare multi-part series for Threads magazine, where I shared step-by-step what I learned and even stitched up my own Armani-inspired jackets. One of those articles is still freely available online: “Armani Jackets: The Inside Story”. As I honor his memory, I invite you to take a look and join me in celebrating the genius of a designer who showed us how elegance could live in every seam.
