Marcy says, “I’d be shocked if PROVENCE isn’t a vintage Ralph Lauren fabric after finding a strikingly similar flax floral jacket by RL (shown above) for sale for hundreds of dollars on Vestiaire. We’ve had bonafide Ralph Lauren finds before, but the best we can say on this gem is that it is very Ralph Laurenesque."
Whenever you see that a deadstock fabric is from an Italian mill, it means quality. Multi-generation mills in fabled towns like Como produce luxury fabrics for the biggest names in fashion, including many American designers like RL, among others.
PROVENCE and many of our flax (and cotton) florals are just right for THE FOREMAN PATTERN by Merchant & Mills. The pattern reads that it’s for men, but add some length (like shown below), and voilà, you have a wonderful woman’s version.
Right now, I am in my sewing studio working on a version of V1817 made with BRICK RED, a lovely linen/viscose toile featured below. Linen gives body to the fabric, and the viscose keeps the wrinkles to a minimum. Stay tuned for pics!
Thank you for all of the Sew & Tell entries! I will announce my January favorites and award gift cards soon, so stay tuned. And finally, we have one space left on our Spring ParisTilton Tour. Is it yours? If so, register now!
