Today, I am happy to bring you some fabulous new wool fabrics featuring rare finds from Italy. Italian wool has a storied history in high fashion, rooted in centuries-old traditions of craftsmanship and innovation.
The Italian wool industry rose to prominence during the Middle Ages, with cities like Biella and Prato becoming centers for textile production due to their access to clean mountain water, ideal for processing wool. By the Renaissance, Italian weavers refined techniques for creating luxurious wool fabrics catering to European nobility.
In the 20th century, brands like Loro Piana, Ermenegildo Zegna, and Vitale Barberis Canonico elevated Italian wool to global prestige, blending traditional methods with cutting-edge technology. Today, Italian wool remains synonymous with quality, sustainability, and timeless elegance, a cornerstone of luxury fashion.
