Today, I am happy to bring you an eclectic selection of new silk and cotton fabrics from LA and NY designers and Japanese and Italian mills.
In the SILK COLLECTION you’ll find new tafetta, organiza, matka and more. Silk Matka is made from broken cocoons of mulberry silk. Unlike traditional silk, which uses continuous filaments from intact cocoons, Matka silk is crafted using shorter fibers. The resulting textured, hand-spun silk yarn is ideal for creating stylish and structured pieces. Shown above is VOGUE 1989 made with NISA, a beautiful Indian silk dupioni.
In the COTTON COLLECTION, we have a few new arrivals from Japanese mills, including a pair of pintucks. Pintucks are fabrics featuring small, narrow pleats or folds woven into the material. These pintucks give the fabric a textured, decorative appearance. Our pin tuck cottons are ideal for creating elegant, delicate, and structured garments.
Thank you to everyone who shopped MARCYTILTON.com during our Gratitude Sale and Maker Monday! Your orders are being filled. Stay tuned for more new fabrics coming soon!
