Hello Sewing Friends!
Today I am very excited to bring back some of our most popular fabrics ever—artisan cotton kanthas handmade in India.
Kantha fabrics embody a time-honored textile tradition that blends quilting and embroidery techniques to create one-of-a-kind crossover fabrics ideal for high fashion and home decor.
These authentic artisan cottons are hand-dyed and hand-sewn. No two are exactly alike making each a unique gem in its own right. We hope you enjoy working with and wearing these exceptional Indian cottons as much as we do!
Shown above are Butterick 6863 by my designing sister Katherine and Vogue 1808, a Marcy-made vest, both created with one-of-a-kind artisan Indian kanthas. You can read about how to make both patterns using cotton kanthas on my blog at MARCYTILTON.blog.
If the past is prologue, then these extraordinary fabrics will fly out of the ArtBarn as fast magic carpets on their way to a happy stash. Stay tuned for more because these are the first in a series of new kanthas being custom-created for MARCYTILTON.com.
Happy Sewing!
