Cotton may be king, but silk is remains the reigning queen of all fibers in its own right for good reasons. For starters, it takes approximately 2500 silk worms to produce one pound of raw silk. Each individual cocoon is made of a single silk thread that can measure up to one mile long.
Silk is also closed-loop fiber meaning that it is both biodegradable and recyclable. Plus, in the cold silk warms you up, and in the heat it cools you down. How is this even possible?
Silk is strong, really strong. In fact to scale it is 4x stronger than steel. Best of all, silk has a unique luxurious luster created by light refracting off the fiber’s prism-like shape.
