Bonjour Couture Amis!
Hello from Paris! Today I am happy to bring you some fabulous new faux suedes sporting some serious swank. As you may know, faux is the French word for fake. So why do designers love faux fabrics so much? Because faux is fun! Shown above are pants (B6327) by my designing sister Katherine Tilton made with ACE CAMEL.
Before you starting working with these fab faux suedes, here are a few tips to help you make the most of them. One of the best qualities of faux suede over the real deal is that you can wash it. Plus it has stretch.
After you cut your pieces and before you sew our garment, I encourage you to grab the iron and play with the leftover scraps first. Push the envelope a bit so that you can feel into the fabric’s tolerance for your iron’s heat settings. No two irons are exactly alike so when working with faux, it’s best to test.
Here are a few more important tips to get the best results:
Cut on the cross grain.
Test for the best needle size.
Test pressing techniques.
Use a walking foot and a clapper.
Below you’ll also find a selection of a few other fun faux fabrics currently available on MARCYTILTON.com. We hope you have as much enjoy working with these playful poly blends as much as we do.
Happy Sewing!
