Hello Sewing Friends!
Today I am happy to bring you a selection of wonderful new wovens just in from Japan. You’ll find them all in the JAPANESE COLLECTION. It’s an open secret that I love Japanese fabrics and wabi sabi style. So you can bet your Bernina that I’ve already stashed away some of today’s new releases for future sewing projects.
First up we have a trio of FAUX BORO in BLUE, GRAY and GREEN colorways on softly textured 100% cotton dobby. I see super fun pants! Dobby is produced on a special loom that bears its name. What's special is that it can raise and lower the vertical warp yarns to create subtle distinctive patterns that make dobby a delight to touch.
Also we have another trio of elegant cotton/wool blends in EBONY, INDIGO and PINE colorways. These rare finds come pre-washed and are simply sumptuous.
VICTORIA is a clipped cotton corduroy featuring a classical stylized floral in delicious shades of wine and cocoa. Lovely and unusual.
Another gem is INDIGO BLOCKS, a muslin-backed quilted cotton featuring muted wabi sabi stripes designed by Naomi Ito for Nani Iro. This is a true crossover cotton ideal for high fashion and home decor. The same design is available in gray as special cuts.
And finally, we’re seeing more and more motifs traditionally associated with European style coming out of Japanese mills. These impeccable iterations of popular patterns include dots, checks, houndstooth, plaids, paisleys. You’ll find them all and more in the JAPANESE COLLECTION.
Remember to send pics of garments you make with fabrics from MARCYTILTON.com to sewingcontest@marcytilton.design for your seasonal chance to win a $500 gift card. Take great photos that show off your design and sewing skills, and include the pattern number and garment description in your email.
Happy Sewing!
