Hello Sewing Friends!
Today I am happy to bring you some new additions to the SEERSUCKER & PLISSÉ COLLECTION. Like linen, seersucker is a classic summertime fabric because it breathes beautifully and holds up in hot weather. The name seersucker comes from the Persian word shirushakar which literally translated means “milk and sugar”. When the East India Company brought the new warm-weather fabric back to fellow Brits, they donned the crinkled cotton and called it seersucker. From there seersucker finally hopped the pond to the former colonies and enjoyed new-found fame among Ivy League preps thanks to big brands like Brooks Brothers. Today seersucker is classic couture and remains one of the most sought after fabrics in fashion.
Happy Sewing!
