Hello Sewing Friends!
Today I am happy to bring you some new additions to the WOVEN COTTONS collection starting with a selection of groovy corduroys just right for transitional shackets.
So what the heck is a shacket away? Once a term tossed around as a tease a generation ago, shacket is a post-modern portmanteau that can be thought of as the love child of a jacket and shirt. Vogue 1689 is one of my most popular patterns that I dubbed The Groovy Shacket. I invite you to get sewing tips on my blog.
Shackets are trending big time right now! You can find recent coverage about shackets on that pages of fashion bibles such as Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar, InStyle, Marie Claire and Vogue. There are some great ideas to glean at those links!
When finding fabrics that are just right for shackets you want to look first for those with a structural drape like our new corduroys, denims and stretch cottons. Also a shacket need not look like you borrowed it from Paul Bunyan. Instead you can create a chic feminine look with the right fabrics.
Many of our new corduroys and denims come to us as designer deadstock from top Italian mills and feature spectacular prints just right for sewing a signature shacket. So if you’re looking for the ideal transitional garment that is as fun to sew as it is to wear, check out V1689 and the new additions to the WOVENS COLLECTION. Below are some of our new and favorite shacket fabrics. You’ll find even more on MARCYTILON.com.
Happy Sewing!
