Hello Sewing Friends!

Today I’m happy to bring you some new additions to the VELVET COLLECTION. You’ll find a luxurious French silk velvet devoré and crushed velvet plus a selection of plush next-generation velvets featuring poly, rayon and spandex.

Devoré is a process known in English as burnout. It comes from the French verb dévorer which literally means to devour. The technique is thought to have originated in Lyon, France as an affordable alternative to expensive lace. It became popular during the 1920s and experienced a revival in the 1980s and 90s. According to Brides magazine, silk devore is all the rage with brides to be.

 Happy Sewing!
