Today I’m happy to bring you some luxurious new additions to the COZY KNITS COLLECTION starting with series of stunning prints on plush panne velvet.
Velvet has a rich history with somewhat mysterious origins. The ancient Egyptians created piled linen textiles as early 2000 BCE but evidence also indicates that velvet may have originated in China and came to Europe via the Silk Roads. One of the earliest European references dates from about 1300 CE to robes worn by Pope Clement V. By the 18th century silk velvets were being produced throughout Europe.
Thanks to modern textile technology, vivid velvets are now produced on a range of next-generation blends. Once reserved for only royals, velvet is today a go-to fabric for top designers. According to Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire and Vogue, velvet is one of the top fashion trends of this season.
